Crear Mundos. Exhibition/Exposición. Buenos Aires, 2020

EN Crear Mundos is an exhibition organized by the Proa art foundation in Buenos Aires, showcasing the work of fifty female artists who have been part of the history of the institution. The title of the show takes up a phrase from the theorist Donna Haraway, from her book Staying with the Trouble (2016): “It matters what we use to think other matters with; it matters what stories we tell to tell other stories with ... it matters what stories make worlds, what worlds make stories.” Through different disciplines – such as video, photography, installation and performance –, the artists reflect on problems associated with culture, politics, gender, everyday life, the relationship with space, the subtleties of language and the place of the body – as vessel, canvas, material and metaphor – from different generations and cultures around the world.

ES Crear Mundos es una exposición en la Fundación Proa de Buenos Aires que recorre la producción de cincuenta mujeres que han formado parte de la historia de la institución. El título de la exhibición retoma una frase de la teórica Donna Haraway, de su libro Staying with the Trouble (2016): “qué materiales usamos para pensar otros materiales, qué cuentos contamos para contar otros cuentos y qué historias hacen mundos.” Partiendo de la historia del arte y a través de distintas disciplinas – como el video, la fotografía, la instalación y la performance – las artistas, reflexionan sobre problemáticas asociadas a la cultura, la politica, la vida cotidiana, la relación con el espacio, las sutilezas del lenguaje y el lugar cuerpo – como soporte, material y metáfora – desde diversas generaciones y culturas de todo el mundo.
