EN Jorge Carrozzino (b.1938) was a multifaceted Uruguayan architect, painter, graphic artist and stage designer. A precocious artist, in 1950 he won a student competition hosted by Air France, and traveled to Paris where he visited Louvre and Picasso’s studio. In 1957 he enrolled in Architecture and around the same time, he started to get involved in stage design – forming a team with his partner, Carmen Prieto, which marked the beginning of a lifelong collaboration. In 1972 the French government gave him a scholarship and in 1973 they participated in the International Theatre Festival of Nancy. The military dictatorship forced him to remain in Europe and he settled in Paris, where he became one of the leading figures of the Uruguayan exile, After a stint in Florence, he returned to Paris in 1975. where he joined the office of interior designer Isabelle Hebey, contributing to several architecture, furniture and interior design projects, including Yves Saint Laurent stores across the world. He died prematurely in Paris in 1987 after a short illness.

Con solo 12 años, ganó un concurso organizado por Air France y viajó a París, donde visitó el Louvre y el estudio de Picasso. En 1957 se matriculó en Arquitectura y por la misma época comenzó a involucrarse en la escenografía, formando un equipo con su pareja, Carmen Prieto, que marcó el inicio de una colaboración para toda la vida. En 1972 el gobierno francés le otorgó una beca y en 1973 participaron en el Festival Internacional de Teatro de Nancy. La dictadura militar lo obligó a permanecer en Europa y se instaló en París, donde se convirtió en una de las principales figuras del exilio uruguayo. Tras un paso por Florencia, regresó a París en 1975, donde se incorporó al despacho de la interiorista Isabelle. Hebey, contribuyendo a varios proyectos de arquitectura, mobiliario y diseño de interiores, incluidas las tiendas Yves Saint Laurent en todo el mundo.
